DSS and LME/MCO Collaboration

The DSS and LME/MCO Collaboration project is a collaborative effort between the NCIOM and the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). The primary goal of the project is to facilitate Regional Leadership Summits to engage county Division of Social Services (DSS) offices and Local Management Entities/Managed Care Organizations (LME/MCOs) in a dialogue exploring strengths, challenges, and strategies for improving the service interface related to children and youth served by the foster care program and older adults with disabilities. Task Force on Patient and Family Engagement

The NCIOM convened a task force comprised of stakeholder groups to explore patient engagement. The Task Force included patient and family consumer members, representatives of state and local agencies, health professionals and health care institutions, private sector partners, academicians, and other appropriate stakeholders. After reviewing best practices and evidence-based strategies for increasing patient and family engagement in direct care settings, hospitals, health systems, the community, and through policy, the Task Force developed and refined a set of 17 recommendations that will catalyze patient and family engagement and improve health and health care systems in North Carolina.
