2008 NC Institute of Medicine Safety Net and Uninsured Update Summit

It has been a little more than three years since the release of the North Carolina Healthcare Safety Net Task Force Report, and a little more than two years since the release of the report on Expanding Health Insurance Coverage to More North Carolinians. There have been several exciting developments as a result of the efforts of these two task forces, including state funding for the health care safety net, the development of a high risk pool, and plans to expand health insurance to more uninsured children. Nonetheless, additional work is needed to fully address the health care needs of the uninsured and other underserved populations.
