Pam C. Silberman, JD, DrPH, steps down after fifteen years of service to the North Carolina Institute of Medicine.

Following fifteen years of service as Vice President and then President and Chief Executive Officer of the North Carolina Institute of Medicine, Dr. Pam C. Silberman has returned to teaching and research full time at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Silberman led the organization during a period of remarkable success and growth.  Her work at the NCIOM included collaboration on task forces covering a diverse range of topics, including Rural Health, the Impact of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act in North Carolina, Children’s Preventive Oral Health Services, Early Childhood Obesity Prevention, Implementing Evidence-Based Strategies in Public Health, and Suicide Prevention and Intervention. During her tenure, she also served as co-publisher of the North Carolina Medical Journal, a state medical journal of the highest caliber. Dr. Silberman has  received the  Ronald H. Levine Legacy Award from the North Carolina Division of Public Health, the Gillings School of Global Public Health Alumni Leadership Award,  the Frederick B. Glaser Award from the the Governor’s Institute on Alcohol and Substance Abuse, and the Tom Vitaglione Child Advocacy Award from the North Carolina Pediatric Society. Adam J. Zolotor, MD, DrPH, is currently Interim President of the North Carolina Institute of Medicine.
